Statement

This is my last video considering the time preceding the opening of the show. In comparison to the other videos, it has a different set-up, even if the camera is once again placed on a tripod in a fixed position and the background is black without any hint as to identify where the space is. Differing from the previous videos, the composition is centred and this feature does not change throughout the length of the video.
The view is intimate due to the location inside of box number 37 (“Stanza su Ruote”). Certainly, it is the title that differs the most to my usual expressive
approach. It is the first time that one of my works identifies itself with a social condition. “Peace” is the word used the most against our own consumer society, a toy in the hands of only a few people, and requires sacrifices, like wars masked in diplomatic exports of peace. When realizing “Peace” I did not intend to take sides politically and this intention remains intact. I only intended to use a word that in the last few years has become the most used slogan against violence of any
kind. So why not associate it with one of the most iconic animals of sacrifice?
Reanimated for a few instants, a loop in which this animal recuperates its vital faculties, for example breathing, opening of the eye or movement of the ear. A pneumatic breath, artificially obtained by a mechanism visible on the abdomen, an iconography based on the alteranation between its moving and static moments.

Questo è il mio ultimo video, considerando il tempo antecedente all’apertura della mostra. Ha un impostazione nuova rispetto agli altri, anche se la camera è ancora una volta su un cavalletto in posizione fissa e lo sfondo è un limbo nero senza coordinate per identificare lo spazio retrostante e circostante. A differenza dei video antecedenti la composizione è centrata e non cambia il suo aspetto per tutta la durata del video. La visione è intima, data l’ubicazione all’interno del box n. 37
(“Stanza su Ruote”). Sicuramente il nome è la cosa che più si scosta dalla mia usuale impostazione espressiva. È la prima volta che un mio lavoro si identifica in una condizione sociale. Peace è la parola più usata contro la nostra stessa societa consumistica. Un giocattolo in mano a pochi, che necessita di sacrifici, come guerre mascherate da diplomatiche esportazioni di pace. Quando ho realizzato “Peace” non pensavo ad ottenere un risultato schierato politicamente e l’intenzione è rimasta intatta. Volevo solamente usare la parola diventata in questi anni lo slogan più usato contro la violenza di ogni genere. Dunque perché non associarla a uno degli animali icona del sacrificio per eccellenza?
Rianimato per pochi istanti, un loop in cui esso recupera le sue facoltà vitali, come respirare, aprire l’occhio o muovere l’orecchio. Un respiro pneumatico, artificiale, ottenuto tramite un meccanismo visibile sull’addome, un iconografia basata sul movimento di questo che si intervalla a momenti di stasi.
